We found Josh and Jen through their incredible custom work on vintage VW vans. We needed large custom built-in bookcase / media center and a bench with storage to fit a wonky corner. I’d heard about Able and Baker a couple years ago and admired their work and work ethic. When it came time to create my dream kitchen, I was excited to hire them and had high expectations. Able and Baker more than delivered! Josh Ganzhorn instantly understood the vision, and suggested the wood, materials and products to bring it to life. It only took a few iterations with him to find the sweet spot between a gorgeous design and cost. His suggestions for providing maximum storage while keeping an open flow were spot on. Josh invited me along to select the wood panels, it was great to be part of the process and help decide the best pieces for my own kitchen. Josh even incorporated into the design some much-loved waffle glass panels that were original to my midcentury house.
The installation was detailed and thorough, with careful attention to ensure all cabinet doors and drawers were exactly aligned across bottoms and tops, and that they functioned flawlessly. Our kitchen has slate floors and post-and-beam ceilings, so it was tricky to have all the edge pieces sit flush with these uneven surfaces. But they took the time and executed it perfectly. The quality of the cabinets is solid and the finish of the wood is gorgeous.
The kitchen has elevated the experience of the house. Able and Baker created a modern kitchen packed with warmth and soul, and my husband and I couldn’t be happier.”
